Waiheke Island is just a 35-minute trip by Fullers fast ferry from downtown Auckland, or 45 minutes from Half Moon Bay to Kennedy Point on the Sealink car and passenger ferry. Waiheke rental cars make getting around on the Island easy. Options range from bikes, scooters to open top sports cars for independent travel. Explore the Island by bicycle or let an electric Ecycle flatten the hills for you. Take an organised Waiheke Tour to enjoy a selection of vineyards, olive groves, beach side cafes and stunning scenery. Buses, the taxi services and the Vineyard Hopper will take you to outer vineyards and open up the Island's remote areas. On the water, kayaking is a great way to explore Waiheke's stunning coastline and turquoise coves - some of which are inaccessible by road.
