Waiheke Island is just a 35-minute trip by Fullers fast ferry from downtown Auckland, or 45 minutes from Half Moon Bay to Kennedy Point on the Sealink car and passenger ferry. Waiheke rental cars make getting around on the Island easy. Options range from bikes, scooters to open top sports cars for independent travel. Explore the Island by bicycle or let an electric Ecycle flatten the hills for you. Take an organised tour to enjoy a selection of vineyards, olive groves, beach side cafes and stunning scenery. There are also buses and taxi services and even a hop-on, hop-off bus called the Vineyard Hopper that will take you to remote vineyards. On the water, kayaking is a great way to explore Waiheke's stunning coastline and turquoise coves - some of which are inaccessible by road.
